Crafted by David Childs of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, it is the tallest structure or building in the U.S., the tallest man-made structure in the Western Hemisphere, and the 7th tallest in the entire world. The megatall building has the similar name as the North Tower of the initial World Trade Center, which was ruined in the unforgettable terrorist attacks of 11th September, 2001. The new building seats on the north-west edge of the 6.5 hectare (sixteen acre) World Trade Center spot, on the location of the initial six World Trade Center. One World Trade Center is bordered by Vesey Street to the north, West Street to the west, Washington Street to the east, and Fulton Street to the south.
